Insurance Auto Body in the Antelope Valley
After an accident, fixing the car is only half the job. The other half is the claim: the adjuster, the estimate, the approvals, the rental, and the paperwork that multiplies while you are trying to get to work.
Most body shops will tell you they work with all insurance companies. Almost none will explain how the process actually works, what your rights are, and where the limits lie. This page does.
Westside Body and Paint has been handling insurance auto body claims across the Antelope Valley since 1978. We are family-owned, a preferred provider for AAA and State Farm, and the auto body shop local drivers have voted the Antelope Valley’s Best Body Shop eight years running, including 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Three Rights Most Drivers Do Not Know They Have
- First, you choose the shop: Your insurance company can recommend a repair facility, and adjusters often do, but California law leaves the decision with you. Being steered toward a carrier network is common; being bound by it is not.
- Second, no law requires you to collect multiple estimates: You may gather as many as you like to feel confident, but one estimate from the shop you trust is enough to move a claim forward.
- Third, you can insist on OEM parts: If a part is being replaced, you can choose original equipment manufacturer parts even when your policy specifies alternative components, as long as you cover the price difference. We ensure that choice is clear before anything is ordered.
How Your Claim Actually Moves
Here is the path from crash to keys:
- Digital Inspection: We inspect the vehicle and write a computerized estimate with digital photos, then transmit it electronically to your carrier, which is faster than the old-school routine.
- Teardown & Verification: California law requires shops to write initial estimates from visible damage only. If the hit was more than cosmetic, we ask your approval to disassemble the area and look deeper.
- Supplement Submission: Hidden damage becomes a documented supplement to your insurer, cleared with you before extra work starts.
- Certified Repair: Repairs follow OEM-approved procedures with post-repair scanning, and the documentation lands in your permanent file, which matters if you ever sell the car.
What Preferred Provider Status Gets You, and What It Cannot
We are a preferred provider for AAA, State Farm, GEICO, Progressive, Allstate, Wawanesa, and California Casualty. In practice, that means direct billing, established relationships with local adjusters, and claims that move through familiar channels instead of cold queues. It shortens waits, but it does not eliminate them.
Two things no shop can honestly promise: we cannot force a carrier to approve a supplement on our schedule—approval times belong entirely to the insurer. And we cannot waive or absorb your deductible. That number was set when you bought your policy, and a shop offering to make it disappear is usually burying the cost elsewhere, which is a risk you do not want your name attached to.
You pay your deductible, the carrier pays the rest, and every line of the bill stays completely honest.
Deductibles, Total Losses, and Other Money Questions
On a covered claim, your out-of-pocket cost is your deductible, and we settle the remainder directly with the carrier.
If the damage pushes past the insurer’s total-loss threshold, we supply the measurements and photos that support a fair valuation rather than rebuilding a car that should not be rebuilt.
⚠️ Fair warning on rentals in a total loss: Once an insurer declares a total loss and a settlement is reached, the authorized rental window shrinks fast, so start shopping for a replacement vehicle the day you hear the word “total.”
Rental Cars: The Straight Story
We partner with Hertz and Enterprise and can help coordinate your rental when you drop the vehicle off, so you stay mobile. Who pays for it depends entirely on the claim:
- If the other driver was at fault: Their liability coverage pays reasonable rental costs while your vehicle is being repaired.
- If you were at fault or the damage was non-collision: Rental costs are covered only if your policy includes rental reimbursement, which is a separate optional coverage.
That surprises people, so it bears repeating plainly: “full coverage” does not automatically include a rental car. Comprehensive plus collision is what full coverage usually means, and rental reimbursement is an add-on with daily and per-claim caps (commonly in the range of $25 to $70 a day for 30 to 45 days, depending on the carrier).
If your repair outlasts your coverage or costs more than your daily limit, the difference is out-of-pocket. What we can do is give you a realistic repair timeline up front so you can pick a rental your coverage will carry safely.
Parts, Insurance, and How Long It Takes
A word on parts, because it surprises people: many policies allow insurers to specify aftermarket or recycled parts instead of OEM. You always have the right to choose OEM and pay the difference, and we explain your options before anything is ordered.
As a preferred provider for AAA, State Farm, GEICO, Progressive, Allstate, Wawanesa, and California Casualty, we handle the claim, the photos, and the supplements directly with your adjuster.
On timing, straightforward bumper repairs are often done in about a day, and a replacement with paint typically runs a few days. Sensor calibration, backordered covers, and hidden damage stretch that, so we give you a real date after inspection rather than a guess before it.
Labor is covered by our lifetime warranty for as long as you own the vehicle, parts for two years or the manufacturer’s term, whichever is longer, and our rental partners, Hertz and Enterprise, keep you moving while we work.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. Your insurer can suggest shops from its network, but California law gives you the right to choose your own repair facility. A carrier cannot refuse to pay a covered claim because you picked a shop off their list.
No, and this catches people constantly. Full coverage generally means comprehensive and collision. Rental reimbursement is a separate optional coverage with its own daily and per-claim limits. Check your declarations page or ask your agent before you need it.
If the other driver was at fault, their insurance pays reasonable rental costs during the repair. If you were at fault, your own rental reimbursement coverage pays if you carry it. We arrange the car through Hertz or Enterprise at drop-off either way.
On a covered claim, your deductible. We bill the insurance company directly for the remainder, including any approved supplements for hidden damage found during teardown. Labor on the repair itself is covered by our lifetime warranty for as long as you own the vehicle, with parts covered for two years or the manufacturer's term, whichever is longer.
Until your car is repaired or your coverage limit runs out, whichever comes first. Policies typically cap rentals at a daily dollar amount and a total number of days, so a long structural repair can outlast a small rental limit. We give you a realistic timeline up front so you can plan around your coverage.
The rental clock shortens. Once the insurer declares a total loss and reaches a settlement, authorized rental time is limited, so begin shopping for a replacement immediately. We provide the damage documentation that supports an accurate valuation of your vehicle.
